LordMonk ist der Bassist und eines der Gründungsmitglieder der spanischen Black/Pagan-Truppe Berserk.
Ich hatte die Ehre ein kleines Gespräch mit ihm im Rahmen von Paganland zu führen.

Hails LordMonk! It's a pleasure that you took some time for this interview!
Hails my friend, the pleasure is mine.
1) Let's start with the first question:
Berserk arised from the ashes in 1998 and you were one of the founding members. Could you tell me more about the first days of conquest? Did you know each other before? Have you worked together before Berserk?
Yes, we knew each other before, we are friends since many time ago. Our town is little and all we know. Berserk was our first band. Althought we started playing Thrash/Death Metal, and then we decided to play Black Metal.
2) Have there been any ideals you followed?
Of course, we maintain all ideals from the beginning.
3) Have you had contacts to any other bands?
If you refer if we have played in other bands, I can tell you, Träg the new drummer was playing in some projects, related with Black Metal as well, here in our town.
The rest of band have had some project but without importance.
4) After a short time, Obitus joined the horde. There have been some misunderstandings with him, could you explain that properly?
Yes, he is a very possessive person, he wanted to implant a lot of ideas at band, and we were not according with him.
5) The formation is stable since a couple of years... how are you doing now? Are there any disaccordances?
No, no problem. Now we are a very solid formation. Now we can play shows with 2 guitars, and before we had to search for a second guitar session for lives. With the entrance of Träg in the band on summer 2005, Frozen Wind passed to guitar and that is the line up until nowadays.
6) Berserk is not really a famous band in Austria... maybe it's because you have never played here yet. What about your reputation in Spain?
In Spain we are a very known band. But we have our detractors as well, hehe.
Some people don’t like that we have signed with 2 labels out from Spain. I think they say Berserk is a very commercial band, meanwhile spanish bands follow recording demos and searching for labels, but they don’t find them.
7) You are playing gigs mainly in Spain. Could you imagine to battle in Austria once?
Sure, Germany, Austria... the center of Europe is very important for Black Metal, like the nordic countries. We would like to play in your country, but there are a lot of economic problems, and this is very difficult.
8) What do you think about the Metal underground in Spain? In Austria, it is heavily penetrated by posers, you know?
There are posers in all places hehe. In Spain, there are a lot of good bands, but not support by labels and people.
9) So you are a celt. How did you come to the celtic cult? Since when are you practicing the celtic religion?
The Celtic religion likes us since many times ago. It is very important part for us.
We respect and we love paganism. We want to follow the path of our ancestors. We trust in old pagan values, and we try to apply it in our lives actually.
Are you practicing any rituals?
Really, we don’t practise any rituals. Now it is something spiritual.
What does it mean to you to be a celt?
To live in harmony with nature. We like the traditions, legends and myths of ancient times. Our influence is the paganism and the fight against Christianity.
10) Do you have any private contact to the other members of Berserk or are you only working together as a band?
As I said, all members of Berserk are good friends.
11) What do you think about Berserk in future? Do you have any plans?
Our nearest plan is recording the new album. We are composing new songs for the new CD which will be recorded very soon. About shows, we are always available to enter in battle!
